I have heard that there is a Void-touched organising care and activities for local children, and was hoping to learn more about how well these efforts have been received. I'm newly arrived to Rubilykskoye as of a month ago, and am still attempting to find a place where my skills might be best applied. I believe this project you have undertaken will be exceptional in easing some of the difficulties between ourselves and the residents, and would like to offer my assistance, if it would be beneficial at all.
Please forgive me for this manner of contact. I'm not yet sure how to adapt the etiquette of my home to this communication system.
A pleasure to hear from you, Ningguang. Your help would be most welcome.
There are only few of us so far, but we have managed because the number of children in our care is not too great either. There will be more in time, certainly, and it is good to be prepared. The families will spread word of our good work.
May I ask if you have children of your own? That is often what the mothers ask first.
[ he's upping the theatrics, having smeared the blood from his throat over more of his skin, his fingers as he clasps it but gives her full view of the wound, the teeth marks left behind. pushing visions of Cesare's black eyes into her mind. ]
Mother--
[ gasping. on his knees in the middle of the street. the words that continue to spill from his mouth sounding far more desperate, spooked than he really is. ]
You were right, about Cesare. He's fucking mad [ breath hitching ] completely insane. He attacked me, he can't control the-- the monster that he's become. He's going to hurt so many, he won't stop.
[ It goes out to all of them, instinct, in the closing instant of the eternity of awful crystalline silence between the severing and whatever comes next. He's not expecting an answer from all of them, knows logically there are a few who won't be able to respond - not instantly, if at all. But he asks because he has to know. Because if he doesn't ask now he might ask never, and he can't have that. He can't. ]
[ before she barely knew him and then suddenly she would have died for him. where does that leave them now? it's hard to say and there is so much to consider. her reply comes soon after a short moment. she's desperate to escape her solitude and the unnerving (and blessed) silence. ]
Robin. I am. I-- [ the longest pause. ] There is blood everywhere, but you must not be alarmed. Mateus has alerted us that it is quite normal among those of us who bear the curse of Skala.
Mother. [ He placates preemptively, as though the following information won't stoke any sort of discontent if he delivers it as he would any common missive. ]
The Deathwarden has challenged me to a duel in Queen Gilia's honor as rectification for her death.
[ it's starting to feel like she's lost any control she may have had over him and the prison situation. she hasn't even had the time to wrap her mind around the Gilia incident and now – another fight? ]
No. Aemond. I will have it called off. Lady Gilia wouldn't want--
( he doesn't want the answer, not really, but he needs it said. Eddie can't hear his heartbeat anywhere and he can't find the scent of him either. he hears the heartbeats remaining in the house, senses panic and grief.
Aemond would want someone to check in on Alicent. probably. )
